I have a wonderful husband!

Background info: Jason has acid reflux and every so often he gets a little tickle in this throat which makes him cough. At times, it is so bad he loses his lunch!

More background info: For those of you who have been pregnant before, you know that while pregnant 70% of all conversations become about ‘being pregnant’ and all the fun things associated with pregnancy. A fun fact that Jason’s dad shared with us the other day was some men actually experience morning sickness. Who'd of thunk it! The day after this conversation, I was talking with folks at work about how men tend to gain weight while their wives are pregnant. While rolling these thoughts around in my mind, I thought 'I need to have a talk with my husband,' WHO...since I've been pregnant....has lost 18lbs and sleeps through my morning sickness. I jokingly reminded him that it would not hurt to show a little more compassion with these matters.

The story: I was getting ready for work this morning and Jason was playing with the dogs in the bedroom, when all of a sudden I felt it happening…again. Only this time I could not make it to the twa-let. So in my sink it goes. At the same time I hear Jason start coughing…and coughing…and coughing. When all of a sudden he comes racing in the bathroom headed for his sink and joins in on the fun. We begin exchanging occasional glances while simultaneously emptying out our already empty stomachs. I finish first and thank him for being a fabulous husband and demonstrating compassion for his wife who is tired of morning sickness. I love you hunny!

I've said it before...but now it's official!

front view...looks like a monkey...lol

I've said it before...but now we have a visual which makes it SUPER official! I have a baby human growing inside of me! Yes 'a' baby human. One, uno, a single baby...not two..or four. I was really hoping to get it over with in one pregnancy, and I have two moms’ who are both retired so I was thinking...they both could have one. =) Wishful thinking.
~Now we get to spend all of our energy on one precious little tike!~

Ultrasounds are awesome! I’m going to refer to the little bugger as a ‘he’ because I swear I saw a kick stand, however the doc informed me that at this stage the girl part is inflamed and looks like a kick stand as well. Go figure. So… he is 1 ½ inches long and has a heartbeat of 167 BPM. The little bugger is extremely active, and looked like a pin ball in a pin ball machine bouncing all over the place. We swear the he waived at us at one point. The little arms are tiny little stubs and you can see the outline of fingers. They are super cute! Not sure he has much for legs right now...there may just be toes. His heart was so clear and you could see it beating away.
It was amazing!!

Snowed in!

For all of you who are not in Oklahoma...our last snow storm cancelled our first ultrasound. I rescheduled the appointment which is Feb 18!! Very exciting...we will hear the heart beat. The snow was extra beautiful because for the first several hours we had freezing rain which coated the trees with a thick layer of ice. Then we had about 6" of snow. Gracie and Ellie came over for the first two days and we vegged out watching movies and played in the snow. We had a ton of fun! Our dogs were lovin' it! ...my pictures are being stubborn and won't upload...sorry folks.

I’m really-really pregnant!

Week #7 and our baby looks more like a dinosaur-tadpole than a baby! Still growing day-by-day and is now the size of a raspberry!

Being pregnant is sort of funny. For weeks now I have asked myself “am I really pregnant? ….really-really pregnant???” Besides the absence of Mother Nature once a month and the occasionally thoughts of “holy cow are those really mine!” I haven’t really felt any different. …Well… until today that is….

It was a typical Monday morning…I woke up late, raced around the house getting ready for work, went through the normal ‘getting-ready’ routine, gave the dogs treats, gave the hubby kisses, jumped in the car and started pulling out of the garage…and…uh-oh!

I felt it. The mumbo-jumbo. The big ka-hoo-na. The master of disaster. Oh my goodness I’m really pregnant! …I jumped out of the car, raced into the house, scared the life out of Jason, and headed straight for the bathroom. Morning sickness. It’s here! Today it was funny. Today it makes me really-really-actually pregnant. Tomorrow will be another day and may not be so cute at some point. BUT~for today. I’m really-really pregnant!

Week 6!!

This week our baby is the size of a blueberry, and the nose, mouth, and ears are starting to take shape!
On Friday, we had our first OB/GYN appointment... We arrived with nervous excitement Friday afternoon, and of course, upon entering the building I instantly realized my need to visit the little girls room. I handed Jason the insurance card and set off to find the restroom.
This is a play-by-play reenactment of Jason checking me in...
"Good afternoon, I'm here to check my wife in."
He hands the receptionists the insurance card.
(the check in desk is for multiple doctors)
Jason...standing...waiting...
Receptionist..."something smells good."
Jason, "Oh, I probably smell a little fruity, it's my gum..."
Jason...standing...waiting...
Jason looks down and realizes I handed him HIS insurance card not mine!
So...his wife's name is Jason and he smells fruity.
I have to say, the receptionist was pretty professional about the whole thing!
LOL =)
We head up to our doctor's office, we get called in, I step on the scale...Jason does his usual~stepping on the back of the scale so it looks like I gained 50lbs~thing, we head into the room, and our doctor John Dalhour walks into the room wearing a pink shirt and pink heals. Is the joke on us this time? Now 'WE' are trying to act professional, however we are giving each other the "are we missing something" look, until we finally get the nerve to ask who she was...the PA!
Until next week!

Dallas...who?

We would like to take a moment of silence for loss that occurred today at the Metrodome.

We are expecting!

We are 5weeks along and our baby is the size of a sesame seed! Yep, it's finally happening! I caught him on a good day!
The internet is a beautiful thing! It has allowed us to see how big (or little) our baby is, the day of conception, that we should expect our little one on September 9, 2010, I should only gain 15pds (hahaa), and that we are having a boy. Yah, 5weeks into it...no ultersound...and we already know just about everything! Who needs an OBGYN anyway? They are a little over-rated if you ask me. The internet is all I need! Just a search bar and a mouse and our baby will be well taken care of, and here before we all know it!
On a real note...we went to the doctors yesterday to get our very exciting news! I guess after the first Birthing Center and/or OBGYN appointment I will let all of you know just how accurate the internet forcasts actaully are. Until then, your prayers for a healthy baby are welcome!
